I was in a health situation for six years and had been to doctors, but in that sixth year of the illness, my family and I heard about another doctor. What followed were three whole years, three years and seven months to be more precise, yes, I counted, of weekly visits to the doctor. 99% of the time I hated it, but I kept going.
One Saturday morning after 2 a.m., I lay in bed with tears rolling freely as I begged God to put an end to the hospital visits. At that moment, I was desperate to talk to someone, but I couldn’t call anyone. My parents’ room was down the hallway, and I thought of going to talk to them, but I just couldn’t. I thought of calling my best friend but discarded the idea. I thought of calling my siblings but discarded that idea as well.
These thoughts kept rolling through my mind, and for every person I considered reaching out to, I quickly put the idea down, bringing up one excuse or another. All the while, I was praying and crying. In that moment, the idea for this book was born.
The experiences in this book are fictionalized but come from the real-life experiences of different people. I truly hope it’s helpful to you. I don’t know what you’re going through, but I sincerely wish you the best. Just know that it always gets better. It always does.
